The Attuned: A Moon Cycle Deck is a unique set of 28 cards created by a Canadian artist, Andrea Palframann. The incredibly vibrant and luminous art features Goddess-inspired images from around the world, from India, Europe and Africa and are a self-described “work of heart”, the result of a seven year personal and artistic journey.
The images of the “moon cycle and divination deck” are not necessarily of distinct goddesses; rather they are illustrations of the chosen archetype, be it the Sun, the Moon, Synergy or Windsong. They are titled:
Each of the 4 x 6 inch cards was originally created as a large-size oil pastel drawing. The medium gives the images a brightness and colour contrast not often seen. My favourite card was Satisfaction, with its stunning blend of electric blues and greens. In the booklet, this card has the meaning of:
Self-knowing, self-loving, self-aware: To be in balance with one’s self is a sensual experience; to attune your sense to the rhythms and cycles of the moon is to be divinely connected. Let the grin of the crescent moon shine all over your waves.
The companion leaflet folds out to show a message from the artist on her inspiration for the cards, a paragraph of insight for each card, and suggestions on how to use the Attuned deck. Andrea suggests using the deck when in need of guidance or affirmation, or to draw one card on the first day of your menstrual cycle, another card the day thereafter, and so on until there is one card left. This is to “cycle through the entire deck, in step with the changes in the moon and in your own body.”
The backs of the cards are pale in colour and have a triplicate design of a lotus and crescent moon. The faces have a solid-colour borders around the pastel-drawn images of various semi-precious stone coloured hues.
The Attuned cards and leaflet are packaged in a handmade canvas bag with colourful printed version of the ‘Satisfaction’ card on the front. The whole Attuned set has a lovely energy and feel, from its packaging to its booklet to its cards.
